I don't get golf. I don't have to

Golf looks like a fun thing to do.  But I would not want to be bothered with the clubs and balls.  I think I would like the walking around on nice grass part.  I mean it.  A couple of hours of walking from lawn to lawn with 4 or 6 nice other people.  Sounds relaxing.  Swinging clubs at balls would just interrupt a nice walk.  Then again, I like to fish without bait.  Why would I want that fish to stop me from staring at the water.

So what baffled me is this place called a "driving range".  The Brooklyn Golf Center did not even have pretty grass.  Standing in the hot sun and whacking at balls did not look fun to me, but the kids liked it and so did the grownup who was driving..  Only 15 minutes.

After running 16 miles yesterday, I had about as much flexibility as a pine tree, so I passed on the club swinging. Watching was about as exacting as watching kids play on the wii, except it all happened in the hot sun.  Only 15 minutes.

Hay, whatever.  I am the guy who ran to Queens yesterday.  For fun.  So it is time for me to stop making fun of what other people enjoy.

Anyway, Riis Park is great.  Hot sand, cool water.  I don't think I can add anything new to the blogispher about Rockaway.  Just that it is not so crowded as it used to be.  Maybe because you can't bring your wii.

But when you go home from Riis Park this is the view

and when you turn back towards the beach at 5pm you see this.

not bad
