A Tan Line on a Tree?

This morning my kids had a cross county meet in Cunningham Park in Queens.  Since I am running the NYC Marathon in 3 weeks I needed a 20.

I got two birds with one stone.  I ran there, the long way.  Yea, Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, Pulaski Bridge,  Lots of concrete sidewalks and traffic lights, used car lots, fast food joints.  But I got my 20.

    You got the tan metaphor exactly right. These trees unlike most others around these parts have photosynthetic bark.

    Love the photo. Good luck with your training! I could never do a marathon--I only run away from crazies :)
