Lather, rinse, repeat. Repeat.

I spend the better part of the afternoon making cotton candy.

Thanks for the photo, Brian.

I really love volunteering. I really like doing something where I know I can make a difference. I like seeing the faces of the people that I am helping.  Today I volunteered to sell cotton candy to raise money for my kids school.  Most of the kids that bought the floss sugar were kids at the school.  Did you know that cotton candy is fat free?  So is a 5 lb bag of sugar.
I have also helping out at road races.  I have actually directed a few and get paid to do it sometimes. I like to make sure people are having a good time when they are supposed to be having a good time.  I also volunteer in The Brooklyn Visitors Center.  When someone walk over the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan I can tell them what to do with the rest of their day.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there are plenty of  opportunities to help those who need it the most;  There are plenty of volunteers that take the neediest people and help make them OK.  I help them by giving them money, because I know that is really what they need.

I like to take the OK people and make them even better.

  3. My daughter and I often volunteer at a local charity organization in our town, we help pack the boxes of clothes that will be sent to needy people in developing countries. I love cotton candy!

  4. Yeah, it felt great when I volunteered with members of my running club last November at the start of the 2010 NYC Marathon. I really got to see how things look like from another point-of-view instead of from the runner's point-of-view.

  5. Great post! Volunteering is a great way to give back and have fun! Judging from that picture, I'm guessing this recent experience left a real impact (in the form of a thick sticky layer of sugar!)
