THANK YOU Run for the Red

I wanted to get in one last thank you.

I make a point of saying thank you to everyone who helps me at a race.  There a lots of reasons, beyond just being polite and I don't have to get into them here.

At the Run for the Red most of the volunteers thanks me back.  "Thanks you for running." "Thank you come coming here."  "Thanks for your support!"

They meant it.  They knew that my entire $85 entry fee (less the rip off active.com fee.) went to the American Red Cross of Monroe County.  They also knew that I came from out of town. I stayed in a hotel, I ate a meal, I bought some gas.  I dropped about $200 in THEIR town.  They THANKED ME for that because I supported their economy.  Their local media even reported on it.

New York Road Runners needs to do a better job of letting New Yorkers know how much their marathon does for their city.  It is just a cash grab on the part of NYC that they are going to charge for the use of the roads during the NYC Marathon.  Eh, they don't have to, the demand for spots in the NYC Marathon far exceeds supply.  They can just raise the entry fee.

Anyway, thanks again East Stroudsburg and I know you appreciated my support.

  1. Can't tell how happy you are, because you always have the same expression on your face, but I'll take your word for it. Good going!

  2. Great job!
I think it's cool your decision to run that marathon was calculated, and wasn't based on what was convenient.
