Saturday while running with my teammates we started talking about the fact that there are many public pool in NYC but they all have Gestapo like rules. Nobody knew where you can go for a dip in a pool without having someone touch your junk in the name of public safety.
24 hours later I found out. My son's best friend's father's sister is a member of the Seymour Perlmutter Community Center Deepdale Gardens Community Pool.
Guests of all ages are welcome if they are escorted in by a member and pay $20.
But you know that Groucho Marx quote. "PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT PEOPLE LIKE ME AS A MEMBER".
This place was kinda like that.
Don't get me wrong, I met a lot of nice people there, but I had little to contribute to conversations that were about parking spots, the price of hot dogs or how confusing ring tones are.
And anyway, the boys had a lot of fun and I got to read this in a shady place.

You do not have to be nice!
