The reason for the "Do Not Wash" sign is that you'll notice there's a sticker on the door saying "New Technology Signals". The room contains electronics for the signal system that would fry if it got wet. The sign is a message for the Stations Mobile Wash teams that periodically clean underground stations with high-pressure washers (during overnight hours) to keep away so water from their hoses doesn't get into the room.
