The Second Most Boring Day of My Life.

The most boring day was three years ago when I took the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Course for the Point and Insurance Reduction Program at a senior center in Brownsville, Brooklyn. click here for all the sleepy details.

The laws have changed in New York State and I was able to take the class on line.

The good news is that I got to take it in my shorts in my own home.

The bad news is that I had to look at screens like this for 90 seconds at a time.

If I tried to move on after the 10 seconds it took me to read that I got

I was able to open other windows and complain about it on Facebook. But, the entire process took 6 hours and 20 minutes.

BTW, did you know that when you pull over to let an emergency vehicle pass your should leave your foot on the brake? That way the driver of the emergency vehicle knows you are stopped.

Interesting about the foot on the brake. Makes sense, though, when I think about it, I suppose.
Six hours? Now THAT is a boring day. What a waste of a Saturday.

I have probabally found a thoundsand dollars worth of metrocards, this list starts July 27, 2008

3-8-18: I must admit that I've been recalcitrant regarding my responsibilities on updating this column. Since last fall I have probably found about $100 worth of MetroCards mostly drop by runners who were ahead of me in large races like the New York City Marathon. In addition to that, last week my daughter was standing right next to me and picked up a card that had $40 on it. We were in a ballroom on the grounds of City College where a high school science and engineering fair was occurring.
9-14-17 Since the spring I have found about $25 worth of cards. One of them had over $13 on it and I found it on the path along the belt Parkway while running a race there. It was a challenge to bend down and pick it up but I knew it would have value because it was so far from the subway
5-21-16 Found the card at the starting line of the Brooklyn Half. It will work till May 31
12-28-15: found the card on the floor in Sears that will work till January 10
Haven't been in the subway since May and I now pay cash to go on espresso ride
4-20-14: $35

4-28-23 i see it's been many years since I actually updated this column. Things have changed through the pandemic. Even before the pandemic they started charging a dollar if you needed a new card. So they were somewhat less card laying around. But since the pandemic when they stop taking cash or combining cards in the boots there's been plenty of cards to pick up.But since the people in the boots come out of the boots I think the stations have actually been cleaner lately.The cards are laying around and until they stop using cards I would remind everyone to pick them up.
